Narrative:
This house is zoned "Light Commercial" -- a
category which
will permit living in it and running
a small business
from it.
Therefore, this place
would be
perfect for a professional like a lawyer,
an accountant or a music teacher.
It is
next door to another house serving as a lawyer's
office and
around the corner from a pediatrician's
clinic and a dentist's office.
It is located on the main street in a little country town
of about 800 people (Keysville). You can walk to
everything in town. The library, the Post Office,
two banks, a restaurant, two florists, three insurance
agencies, and various other small businesses are all
within one block of this home. Only a little farther
away, there is a Food Lion Supermarket, a
pharmacy, and three more restaurants.
By the way, the whole town is wheel-chair accessible
and it would be easy to add a ramp to this house.
The house itself is about 100 years old with the
original wood clapboard siding, a porch all the way
across the front, and a traditional picket fence. It
has nearly 1800 square feet of living space with
three bedrooms and one bath. It has central heating
and air conditioning.
The front door opens into a foyer large enough to
serve as a waiting room for clients of a professional
like a lawyer, an accountant or a music teacher.
Lovely old French doors (glass double doors) lead
into the living room which has a fireplace and a
chandelier. Altogether, the living room and the
dining room could form a 500-square-foot office
suite. (Incidentally, the fireplace has not been used
in many years. It might be best to convert it to
gas logs.)
