Narrative Description:
This is a great get-away for someone working
in Southern Virginia (South Boston, Clarksville, or Danville) or
Northern North Carolina (Oxford, Roxboro, or the
"Research Triangle" area). Durham is
only about 50 miles from this property.
This "fixer-upper" still needs a whole lot of work, but the exterior is
done, so it is "weather-proof". It has all new thermopane windows
and vinyl siding. Before moving to another area, the owners
installed an updated kitchen and removed some walls to allow for
enlarging some rooms. They envisioned converting 3 small bedrooms
on the second floor into 2 large bedrooms.
There is a small pond about 150 feet from the rear deck. I would guess
that the pond is about a half-acre. It may look even larger right
now because our area has had an unusually rainy six months.
Beyond the pond there is a wooded area that was cut-over about 15 years
ago. It looks like about 2 acres of mixed hardwood and pines.
Then, to the right of the home, there is a wide-open field of about 9
acres. That field has very long frontage on a state-maintained
highway. If it has a good perc site, you could build another house
there. [A "perc site" is an area approved by the county health
department for a septic drain field and, therefore, a home.]
