This property is located in South Central
Virginia about 4 hours South of Washington, DC and a little over an hour
Southwest of Richmond, VA. It has good access to major highways,
including I-85, I-95, US 360, US 460, and US 15. It's less than an
hour from North Carolina. It's mid-way between the ocean beaches
and the mountain ski slopes -- about two hours to either the ocean or
the mountains.
This home is completely out of sight. It's about 700 feet from a quiet blacktop
country road maintained by the state. It's very private, but not
isolated.
This is a very unusual 2-story old Virginia farm house. The owners
stripped this circa 1917 home down to
the studs and floor joists. They re-constructed the house from the
ground up. They leveled every floor and they squared every corner.
They created an extremely energy efficient home with many special
features for extra convenience.
Here are some examples of their forethought and planning.
